What Does a Medical Assistant Do?

MAs assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and a nurse practitioner. They interview patients, measure vital signs, and records information on patient's medical record. MAs prepare treatment rooms and may be required to draw and collect blood samples as well as prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. MAs even administer oral medications or injections!

  • Must be 16 years of age or older

  • Simple Literacy Exam

  • Hep B Vaccination

Do I Need any Prior Medical Training?

No. Being a Certified Medical Assistant requires a high school diploma or GED.

Course Hours & Times

  • 800 Clock hours

  • 600 hours of in-person theory

  • Day Class: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

  • M-Th (25 weeks)

  • Evening Class: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

  • M-Th (50 weeks)
